The Yunus Emre Institute is to send Turkish language materials to Turkish civil society organizations in those foreign countries where most Turkish expatriates reside and hold conferences on teaching Turkish for organization officials to help Turks abroad maintain and improve their Turkish skills.
The head of the Yunus Emre Institute, Hayati Develi, spoke on his institute's new projects, including the one on Turkish teaching, in Sarajevo, where he was attending a Turkish cultural exhibition organized by the Yunus Emre Institute and Ankara's Hacettepe University over the weekend. He said that the Turkish families living abroad frequently petition the institute to teach their children the language. “There are mothers that cannot speak the same language as their children as the children learn the language of the country at school and the mothers continue to speak Turkish. We will seek cooperation with civil society organizations in the countries in which Turks mostly live, such as Germany, the Netherlands, France and Belgium, on the issue,” he noted.

Develi further stated that new Turkish language schools will be opened in some Balkan and Middle Eastern countries. Nearly 10,000 people have taken courses since 2009 at the Turkish language schools the institute has opened in various countries, he said, adding that they could also open a school in Yerevan, if such a request comes from the people of Armenia.
